PRE- JOWL SULCUS
The pre-jowl sulcus is the hollow or depression that can form on either side of the chin along the jawline, typically as a result of ageing. This area becomes more noticeable as the skin loses elasticity, and fat or bone volume diminishes over time, causing sagging in the lower face. The pre-jowl sulcus often contributes to the appearance of jowls, which can disrupt the sharp, defined look of the jawline.
Causes of Pre-Jowl Sulcus Formation:
Ageing: As we age, the skin loses collagen, elastin, and fat, leading to sagging and a hollow appearance in areas such as the pre-jowl sulcus.
Bone Resorption: Over time, the jawbone may lose density, causing the chin and lower face to appear less defined and more prone to jowl formation.
Fat Loss: Loss of fat pads in the lower face can result in hollows or depressions around the chin area.
Pre-Jowl Sulcus Filler Treatment:
Dermal fillers are commonly used to address the pre-jowl sulcus by filling in the hollow areas and restoring volume. This treatment can smooth out the jawline, making it appear more youthful and defined.
